During education in the Department of Physics in the Leningrad State University, I have got fundamental knowledge in the basic physical and mathematical disciplines such as:
Mechanics Optics Nonlinear Optics Quantum Electronics Thermodynamics Electrodynamics Theoretical Physics Astrophysics Quantum Mechanics Quantum Electrodynamics Relativity Theory Field Theory Nuclear Physics Physics of elementary particles Laser Nuclear Fusion Automation of Physical Experiment Mathematical Physics Mathematical Analysis Linear Algebra Theory of Functions of Complex Variable Differential Geometry Philosophy, and other included in the university program.
Parallel with studying in 1985 I worked several months in VNIIRA (State Institute of development of radio-electronics devices) as a programmer. I took part in the software development for navigation systems and computational modeling on the EC-1060 mainframe (IBM-360 clone).
I joined Vavilov State Optical Institute in 1986, where I prepared the graduation work Propagation of a high intensive nanosecond radiation pulse through a coherent amplifying medium in the saturation mode.
I participated in works on research of heterodyne coherent detection of low intensive infrared radiation sources with a CO2 laser as a heterodyne (wavelength is 10.6 microns) and in research of opportunities of fast frequency shift over a wide range and precision laser frequency stabilization as well as in development and creation of new Waveguide Gas Lasers. I developed powerful high-voltage supplies for lasers and the high-frequency systems of laser pumping. I took an active participation in automation of experiments and building of a local area network of the department. I have high skills in the computer facilities and programming, creation of radioelectronic devices for controlling the experimental equipment.
In my experimental work, I obtained well experience in the optics, vacuum engineering, high-voltage electrical equipment, microwave technique, radioelectronic equipment, and computer engineering. One of the results of my work in State Optical Institute was detailed understanding of the Laser-heterodyne method for coherent registration of ultra low intensive radiation. This method is similar to coherent methods used in Radio Astronomy, but for radiation in optical and infrared diapasons, it allows to dramatically increase detector sensitivity. The main result of this work is that Coherent Registration may be effective not only in Radio diapason but also in the near infrared (and probably in the optical) diapason. The possibility of using the coherent heterodyne registration in the optical diapason is the most perspective direction of research.
During my work in the Main Astronomical Observatory of the Academy of Science of USSR, was engaged in research of infrared sources associated with T-Tauri stars and Herbig-Haro objects in the Infrared Astronomy Team under a management of Dr. Bergner. I worked on development and tests of unique three-channel infrared photometer that was mounted on the 1 m Zeiss reflector in Assy-Turgen Observatory near Alma-Ata city (Kasakhstan).
Unfortunately the researches of the coherent heterodyne infrared and optical registration of astronomical objects were not completed because of absence of funding and disintegration of USSR.
All the following experience, since 1991, was devoted to Computer Business and System Integration projects. Ive got a high-skill experience and knowledge in the wide areas of computer science: Networking (development and administering), Operating Systems, Application development, Database programming and other.
I have two certificates: Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP ID 401240) and Certified C Programmer (Tekmetrics ID 88690).
In the Piter Publishing House I edited 42 books and worked as a project editor of 117 titles concerning computer science.
Now I lead the number of publishing projects including Microsoft MCSE and Novells CNE exam projects, the Linux project and the Mathematical & Astronomy books project.
My most global achievement during the last year was writing (with my co-author B. Bogumirsky) the monography Migration to Windows 2000: Network Administrators Guide (see list of publications). This monography describes in details the full process of planning and implementing corporate network based on Windows 2000 and number of problems emerging at this way and their solutions. I was the leader and the creator of this project.
At the present time I am a Deputy Managing Editor of Computer Books Department of Piter Publishing House and Editorial Board Member of BYTE/Russia magazine.
